s16vc grew out of a community of founders that was accidentally started in 2007 at an apartment at Shmitovsky Lane 16.

We are backed by over 150 founders and operators. With their help, we are aiming to build a true Founders-for-Founders fund. What that means:

• Most of the s16vc partners are founders themselves and we continue to run full-time or be involved with our companies.
• There is no wall between our LPs and portfolio founders.
• We strive to reject deals quickly with honest feedback or commit within 21 days of the first meeting.
• There is an s16vc partner on 100% of the calls with founders.
• We don’t impose help but treat all incoming requests from the founders as our own. More on that here.

We like to write the first check at Pre-Seed and Seed stages, investing around $1m on average but also ok with angel-sized check. We prefer companies targeting global, pan-European and US market.

We rarely formally lead rounds but are ok being the largest or only VC in the round. Often, we commit first and then help founders find the lead.
